Newbie in North Indy Metro
Hey BP crew! My name is Kevin Ochs. I live in Noblesville, IN, and am married with a wife and 3 kids. Currently, I work as a trainer and supervisor in the claims department of a major insurance company.
I have dabbled briefly in real estate previously as both an agent and loan officer. However, my long term plan in real estate has always been as an investor. I originally joined Bigger Pockets back in 2013 when I knew nothing about real estate. I believed the gurus that said I could get started with little to no money, and at the time, I definitely had no money.
Some time has passed, and I've obtained an Indiana Real Estate Brokers license, learned more about investing, and finally started saving some money. My wife and I are almost at the point of buying our first investment property. The goal is to buy our first one in the next 6 months. For the first one, we likely would be looking for single family properties and possibly duplexes to get our feet wet. Ideally, we want to BRRRR our properties so we can rent for long term wealth and financial freedom. My goal is to be able to retire from my current job in 5 years!
I have very little rehab experience outside of replacing fixtures, painting, and landscaping. I’m also undecided on whether I want to be a landlord or use a property manager. However, I’m excited to end my analysis paralysis and jump into real estate investing! I look forward to connecting with the incredible members of this community and hope to post some success stories soon!

Hi Kevin -- been there, done that! It took me 3 years to take the plunge and I now have 4 properties. Joining some local groups will help you get it in gear (most of them are still virtual) INREIA, CIREA, and the FB group "Indianapolis out of state Investors" are my favorites. The Indy Investor Podcast with Brian Snider and the CEO Nation with Steve Richards are two local investors podcasts/trainings that are very helpful. I would be glad to chat with you as well.
