New Investor in Chicago Area!

Hi! I'm a brand new investor in Chicago, IL and the surrounding area, and I'm looking to make some connections and build a network. I currently work for a design-build company where I handle all things money for condo deconversion remodels in downtown Chicago and skilled nursing facilities around the country.

My main focus right now is finding a 2-flat house hack in the Chicago area to move into using a bank loan. This will be my very first real estate investment! I've also already got a potential private lender to cover the down payment for a second 2-flat. I am playing around with the idea of getting one larger multi-family building (maybe 3-5 units?) to move into and use the private lender to cover the down payment and avoid putting any money down for myself. This will leave more cash to use on a second investment down the road - yay!!

Longer term, my sister and I are planning to partner up and target Austin/San Antonio (maybe San Marcos) for buy and hold investing, but I am also interested in short term investing opportunities in Chicago. You can view my sister's introduction post here.

I would really appreciate if anyone from/interested in Chicago wants to introduce themselves as well! Also, if anyone has tips or recommendations.

I look forward to hearing from everyone!
