Getting Started on LI, NY

Hi folks,

My name is Rich Dirks, a new member who found BP through the new podcast (which is excellent -BTW) From what I've seen so far, this site seems to be the best hype-free source of information out there.

I have no investments as of yet, but my goal is to get started in a fairly aggressive way with buy and hold with the longer term goal of transitioning away from the 2.5 hr commutes and the rat race of my wall street job over the next 3-5 years.

The biggest question on my mind right now is weather or not I can make the numbers work in my local market (North Shore, Long Island) or if I need to begin researching markets further away. Would love to hear from any LI'ers who are currently making it work.

Looking forward to becoming a productive member of the community.

Hi Rich,

Welcome to BP! I too am new to REI as well as BP and I agree with you that this is by far the best source of info that I have found. Good luck with your new investing and getting out of the rat race, I'm looking forward to hearing more!

Taylor
