First-timer up in Fairbanks!

McKenzie Lang
Posted

Hello, my name is McKenzie and I’m investing in Fairbanks, Alaska.

I grew up watching my mother renovate each house that she owned and immediately following completion, sell it. I moved many times throughout my childhood and it was my normal. Now that I’m an adult, I put two-and-two together and realized she was flipping. When I inquired about it, I discovered that she only wanted to make each home exactly as she wanted it, and then moved because she needed a change of scenery. Regardless of my incorrect assumption of her desire to invest in real estate, the inquiry started my journey.

I am currently active duty military and my husband and I were looking for a home that we could rent when we move to our next base in a year. We came across a duplex and bought it. The duplex is actually a converted 4-plex and we’ve decided to restore it to its former glory. We are currently living in one of the units renovating the others.

Since we purchased the 4-plex, the universe has provided an opportunity for me to leave the military and I plan on pursuing real estate investing full time.

We're mostly interested in rentals and plan to use the BRRRR method.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and our goals!
