Newbie from Shenandoah Valley, Virginia

Hello BP people! I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m an accountant from Virginia (born and raised). My interest in real estate came from seeing rentals that my tax clients have. This heightened after listening to Listen Money Matters discuss real estate. That drove me to seek out a real estate podcast, and here I am!

I have no real estate background but am trying to learn as much as I can. My first purchase will hopefully be a starter home with my husband. I know that isn’t an investment, but we would probably buy a place that needs some work. This could be in Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, or California (he’s a musician, so we’re still deciding on the best location for his career).

I would love to dive into rental real estate at some point, and my primary interests are passive income and finance independence. I’m open to the idea of flipping if my education points me in that direction.

I have read the Ultimate Beginner’s Guide and have listened to the first 10 podcasts. I’m not clueless but am far from educated. I’ve finally started poking around in the forums. Everything has been so helpful!

I’d love to hear any stories/beginner tips from anyone kind enough to respond. Thanks in advance!
