Introducing myself to Birmingham and wider BP community
Recently moved to Birmingham, AL from Chicago to be closer to family but also to reinvent myself professionally.
Immediate goal:
I'm currently not employed. So... I am working on finding a W-2 (salary or wage) job where ideally I can help investors manage and grow their business while learning about the Birmingham investment market. But I am open to other opportunities.
Long term goals:
Invest in Real Estate, of course!
For my first investment, I want to "house-hack". Initial thoughts : a duplex or SFH with an on-site apartment. Neighborhoods: The Birmingham southside, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Vestavia
Relevant experience:
- Completed the licensing exam for Alabama RE salesperson. (Haven't affiliated with an agency as of yet.)
- Realtor in Chicago specializing in apartment leasing.
- Condo Board President of 32 unit building
- Sales and Service District Manager for automotive manufacturer
- DIY - home improvement enthusiast

Hello! @David C.
Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.
I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.
First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:

The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:

The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent. There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.
I love answering questions if you have any! Good Luck :)
