Hello all,

My name is Anthony and I have just recently started learning about the world of real estate investing and I would like to someday partake in owning my own rental properties and having a passive income. Living on a passive income isn't my only reason for wanting to be involved in the investment world because I've always been interested in real estate and will most likely also try my hand at being an agent at some point. My only problem is that I am so new to this that I really have no idea what I am doing, that's why i'm here to learn before I make any mistakes.

A little about myself, I am currently only 19 y/o and I just recently got my first actual full-time job where I can save up potentially 15k-20k a year. I went to community college only for one semester and had that all paid for by my employer at the time. After searching around at other job opportunities and ending up at my current job, I realized that real estate is the place I want to be working in. I knew nothing about Investing until I started listening to podcasts at work and found biggerpockets, granted this was only 3 weeks ago, I've been listening and trying to read a lot about how the whole thing is done and how to actually be successful at it.

My current plan at this time is to remain at my job I have now and save up as much as I can in a 1-2 year period, I will then try to see what kind of deals I can get and actually go into the business. I feel that at this point since I have no money saved up and no real connections in the business, it would be best for me to just continue reading and learning as much as I can and communicating to people. At this point I feel like this is what I am dedicated to, I would rather take a risk with the money I save up rather than just being content with it and continuing a normal job for 35+ years.

So that's a little bit about me and how I think. If anyone has any tips or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Anthony and welcome to the site!  You definitely took a good first step by finding BP and committing to learning.  It sounds like you have a good plan, stick with it and you'll be investing in no time.  I've been slow to participate in the community, but am tying to be more active and not 'lurk' like in the past.  I'm located here in Bethlehem too and there are a few meet-ups in the area that could help you gain some knowledge and make connections.

Welcome again and don't hesitate to reach out directly with any questions
