New to Bigger Pockets
Hello all, I’m new to the Bigger Pockets community. I have been listening to the podcast and reading suggested books for quite some time now.
I am originally from Mystic, CT currently active duty Military with 8 years left before retirement and I started looking into real estate investing as a way to augment our retirement income. Our target areas for property are Kauai, San Diego, and Mystic CT.
Up until now my wife and I have purchased and sold two homes utilizing VA benefits for a small profit and recently went into a small under budget rental in hopes of purchaseing a rental property. We just got an offer accepted on a Condo on Kauai and our next move is to purchase a multi family in the Beaverton, OR area.
I’m hoping to network and gain valuable insight from this forum as well as provide any personal success and challenge experience from the standpoint of an active duty military member who has purchased and sold multiple homes.

Hello! @Christopher Mcfarland
Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.
I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.
First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:
https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/5868/52761-the-simple-guide-to-getting-started-on-bp
The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:

The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent.
There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.
I love answering questions if you have any! Good Luck :)
