I'm originally from Ohio my fiance, Chris, and I just recently moved to Tampa. We are both passionate about getting started in real estate investing. Our current plans are to start off house hacking with a duplex or triplex. We would love to learn more about best strategies for getting started and alternative lending options. I work as a personal banker so I am familiar with traditional lending but would like to learn more about what else is out there. Our goal is to network with like minded individuals so we can help each other succeed.

I’ve been a fan of Lakeland for some time now. Partly because I live so close. Word of advice for people looking in lakeland from out of town:  do you homework!!!! I see a lot of people trusting numbers and advice from people that don’t know the market. There are some war zones and areas I wouldn’t go to. Not saying you can’t make money, just know what you’re getting into. Take some time and drive around. Look at crime maps. Network. There’s a great REIA. PCREIA.com that has honest info.

have you considered looking into places like lakeland, eastern hillsborough county or pasco county. a little more reasonable and as the city expands and rentals rise alot of people are moving further out. lakeland is booming right now, they are recruiting doctors from around the country.
