Starting as an investor with absolutely no money available

Hi Everyone, 

My name is Andrew and I am trying to get started in real estate, but facing one of the largest hurdles. I have been going from contract job to contract job, with no sense of a permanent position on the horizon. I struggle to pay my bills every month and still have enough money to put food on the table for my wife and son. I have the ambition to be successful with real estate, but I keep getting knocked down because I can't afford to put any of my own money into a deal. I know from reading the posts on BiggerPockets that investing in real estate is an excellent way to earn extra income. 

I am looking for an investor who is willing to work with me as a partner, or as a mentor while I get a few deals under my belt.

Hi Andrew, I am wondering what type of contract work that you do? Are you wanting to assist on flips? If you have limited cash it is best to tell investors what other skilled you have to offer. Just a suggestion.

    I currently work in Information Technology. My interest is using the B-R-R-R-R strategy to add Single Family and Duplex rental properties to my portfolio. I know bits and pieces about general construction and can do some of my own work on any renovations that will need to be done.

    find a paying job in the industry and work your way up.

    its pretty impossible to do this absolutely no capital.. just like any start up.. you need capital to operate.

    @Andrew Noska - perhaps you can use your strengths in Information Technology to get started in REI. What about working (even on the side) for one of the many software and tech companies that support REI's? Even non-tech as a customer service rep, or sales rep? Databases, rental payment vendors, lead generation/database software/websites - they all are listed on BiggerPockets and must need good IT folks. Then, once "in" with others in the REI biz, your networking & knowledge increases & investment opps may be more available.

    Welcome to BP @Andrew Noska! It's tough in the beginning, but there's ways to get into deals without needing a lot (or any) cash. It's harder, but worth it. Good luck to you!
