Student and new member in Houston

Hello,

My name is Jacob Karcher, and I'm a 21 year old college student at the

University of Houston (UH) studying Marketing. I've always been very interested in REI and RE in general but my RE background is fairly limited. I currently live near UH in the East End/EaDo area of Houston but I've also lived in the Third Ward and work from home as an AppleCare advisor. I was drawn to this site when I heard about House Hacking on a personal finance podcast I listened to back in December of last year. Since then, I've consumed a LOT of content from BP/others and have learned a lot about the different paths of REI. Also, quite frankly, I don't really know what I want to do for a living and have been exploring some real estate related career paths (Loan Officer and Broker mainly but my eyes are WIDE open). I will be graduating in December and would like to house hack within the loop here in Houston or wherever I end up post graduation.

For the past few months I've analyzed several "house hacks" using tools provided on here and have been having a lot of fun with that. I've reached out to a few smaller banks in an attempt to find more investor friendly lenders who also offer FHA loans but haven't had much luck. My current work schedule makes attending local meet ups difficult but I would like to use vacation time to attend at least 2 meetups by the end of the semester. My RI goals are to own 20 doors before my 30th birthday (8 year goal), and in the short term I would like to expand my RI network.
