Newbie Alert in Denver!

Hello Bigger Pockets family!

My name is Tasha Elflein (my full name is way too long to state here).  I am currently an HR Analyst in Colorado looking to expand my knowledge and growth in the Real Estate market. As 'Real Estate' is widely expansive, I am specifically looking to take my first step and learn the fundamentals and basics.

About Me:

I'm originally from Courtice, Canada. I grew up there until I was 7, where we then took our giant leap down to Florida. To be completely honest, I'm not one for hot weather so I moved up to Long Island, New York in 2005. Here I went to school, found my first job at 14, and went to college at Stony Brook University. In January of 2015 I came to Colorado to visit my sister for the weekend and by February of that same year I decided to do the most spontaneous thing I've ever done and quit my job, say bye to my family, and drive out here to the beautiful Colorado, starting over. What I love most about Colorado is the people. Being from Canada, the contrast between the people there and the folks in New York was drastic to say the least. Colorado is smack dab in the middle. I've found my happy place. I've been working in HR for about 8 years now, and while I still learn something new every day I'm looking for that next big step. My motivation to learn and be more than who I am today has led me in this direction. My first glimpse was from Rich Dad Poor Dad (of course) and since I read that book about 2 months ago I've just immersed myself in the Bigger Pockets world. I'm extremely excited to see where this journey goes!

Experience:

I do not have current Real Estate experience but I do have a strong commitment to learn and find mentors as well as Meet Up events where I can decide which avenue I'd like to go, whether it be flipping single family homes or plexes, or even renting/Airbnb'ing.

Real Estate Goals:

I wish to have what I need to buy my first property in one years time.

Currently Seeking:

Mentors and advisors I can assist by providing admin or legwork support to free up their time. The Denver market is huge, and while this may not be where I'd look to buy it's a great market to learn and shadow.

Hi Tasha! Welcome to BiggerPockets and to Denver! I genuinely love both. BP because it's an awesome place to learn more information about a subject that has a lot of facets and Denver because the weather is amazing, the food/art scene is pretty great and there's a lot of healthy/cool people that live here. (Also, I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad this year and liked it enough to buy the board game.)

So, full disclosure I am a real estate agent that services Denver and Colorado Springs. On a high level, I can tell you that talking to a lender is a great first step (can get you referrals if you need them) because they can help you lock down on your financing and/or build out a plan for where your financing needs to be. Also, getting to know your must haves (3) is important as well as whether or not space or location is more important.

Happy to talk more on any/all topics. Can do it in private message or on a phone. Again, welcome!!
