Newbie relocating & looking to invest in DFW (Dallas - Ft. Worth)
Hello BiggerPockets!
Just wanted to post my first post on this forum and quickly introduce myself :)
My name is Eric. I have basically zero experience with real estate, other than listening to the BiggerPockets podcasts / webinars, and reading dozens of real estate investment books. I've been a long time lurker on these forums, still trying to soak up as much information as I can before I begin my real estate investing journey.
Like many others, my interest in real estate started after I read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. This book is what really jump started my interest and confirmed what my parents have been trying to drill into my brain for years, and that was to one day own my own business (no matter what industry). As I delve deeper into my education towards financial freedom and early retirement, the concepts and math behind real estate investing just started to make sense to me, and before I knew it, I stumbled upon BiggerPockets.com.
Currently, I'm in the process of relocating to the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area, and will be there by the end of the year. I am fortunate enough to have some family in the area who are willing to house me for a few months while I start looking for my first ever property, and stepping stone into real estate investing! This will ideally be a house-hack (2-4 unit multifamily property) in a decent area, where I can offset most of my housing costs, while I build equity, and my tenants pay down the mortgage. I am excited to get started and learn not only through reading books / listening to podcasts, but through first-hand experience. With the help of all the contributing members of BiggerPockets, and those who have traveled this path before me, I know I can succeed!
I look forward to the journey ahead of me, and the possibility of connecting / working with some of you in the near future!
Best regards,
Eric Du
