Newbie in Centennial Colorado!

Hey everyone! My name is Dave Brown, and I'm looking forward to being here on biggerpockets! I've been interested in real estate for years. I guess really almost two decades. Dang, I may have just dated myself. I have done one, yes just one, real estate deal. This was when I purchased my primary residence through a short sale back in 2011. I have to say, it was rather interesting. I did a lot of work on this place. Why? Because I had too. The previous tenants let their animals run wild. It was disgusting! I certainly had to spend more than anticipated. All said and done, it was worth it. I believe it's accurate to say I now have quite a bit of equity in the house. So that's pretty cool!

I read Josh's post about how to introduce yourself, so I'm kinda going through what's recommended. I'm kind of from all over. I spent some years in California, but mostly grew up here in Centennial. I'm not fond of the question, "what do you do?" It's a rather vague question. Unless it's specified more clearly, I have been answering by saying, "I hang out and be cool." Essentially, this is what I do, regardless of specificity. What I do for a living, or for income, is very different from what the vast majority of people do. No, you probably can't guess it and no, it's nothing questionable. I'll leave it at this for now. My goals in real estate I think are fairly common and simple. Basically it would be financial freedom and to create a legacy for my family. Personally I really need to live in Hawaii, and be able to visit different places that I find fascinating and enjoyable. I think owning real estate in these places would be quite nice.

How I found biggerpockets!.... At the beginning of this year I found myself on a self improvement/personal development journey. This included reading many books and listening to podcasts. People like Zig Ziglar, Og Mandino, Dave Ramsey, Robert Kiyosaki, Napoleon Hill, Brian Buffini, Dale  Carnegie, and many others became my mentors. As many of you know, one reference leads to another, and eventually, I found biggerpockets!

So here I am, continuing my education and improving myself to continue living the good life! Cheers!
