Hello BP! Adam here, coming at you from NW Indiana! While I am not a new member to BP, I am a new member to the great city of Knoxville, TN! I moved to NW Indiana about 3 months ago and as I was lining things up to buy my first property, my life got flipped on its head and now I am moving to Knoxville to start grad school (any other physician assistants on here?)! I will be down there in around mid-Sept and my wife will be joining me probably in January.
I'm looking to house hack and get a property purchased before January before I move my wife and all my stuff down here.
However, this is where I need YOU, the great members of BP! I do not know a single person in Knoxville! I need your help to find an awesome real estate agent, lenders, wholesalers... anyone in the business really! If you know someone, or are someone in the business, please reach out to me!
I look forward to exploring Knoxville and meeting you lovely people!
Jason Young at Crye Lieke is my agent, I'm doing the house hacking thing as well. He won't bs you around and he knows what to look for, he's an investor agent.
Welcome to Knoxville Adam! My husband is a PA here in Knoxville! We use a local portfolio lender, People's Bank for a lot of things. We have an amazing agent that we have used to buy several foreclosures. She doesn't bring us deals but shows us anything we want to see, Lesia Carter with Caldwell Banker. We would be happy to answer any other questions if you need anything!
@Adam Detig Hi Adam and welcome to Bigger Pockets! Bigger Pockets is a great place to start for real estate investing. Bigger Pockets is the place to get deals done the right way! Congratulations, and I wish you nothing but success.
Andy Basler seems to me the hipsters have already taken over south Knoxville. I've been studying the area I think about 2 years too late. I'm not getting too excited about 135k 2 bedrooms. What about these 80k 3br in east Knoxville? Too ghetto? I've never been over there.
@Luke Carl I'm a big believer in location, even if you have to pay a little more. I'm not a fan of East at all, but to be fair, I've never done business in that area so I'm far from an expert. You can still find deals in South Knoxville, I have friends that are still buying under $100k. You have some big pushes in that area (big developments) that are good anchors.
