Newbie in the Southwest GA/Albany Area
Hey there!
I'm a new real estate investor and also new to Bigger Pockets. I am originally from a small town in Upstate NY north of Syracuse. I currently reside in Albany, GA. I work full time as a Program Director at an agency that serves people with disabilities. I am also currently working toward obtaining my real estate license. My background is in Psychology and Social Work. I am very new to the real estate world and learning as I go.
My husband/partner and I started our business and established an LLC about 2 months ago at the same time that we were in the process of securing our first deal. In April we closed on two duplex properties that were next door to each other. We did an FHA loan on one and are currently house hacking, living in one of the units. We inherited tenants in the other three units, two of which are Grafa/Section 8. The single family home we were living in is owned by my husband and we are now renting it out. I have taken the property management role in the business as we start out and his role is to find and analyze deals, and secure funding.
My husband and I are working toward financial freedom and early "retirement." We really just want to be in a position where we don't have to work, we choose to work and do not have to be someone else's employee. I would like to reach that point by 35. We ultimately want to free up our time to serve others and make an impact on the world. We are still in the process of figuring it all out, but have made the first step toward achieving our goals.
I started out listening to the Bigger Pockets podcast. My husband introduced me to it and I subscribed after hearing a few episodes. I created my Bigger Pockets profile about a month ago and am just now getting around to introducing myself. Looking forward to networking, making connections, learning from this community, and hopefully adding value myself as I become more knowledgeable and experienced in the field!
