Newbie from The Woodlands, TX

Hello! My name is Bobby and I am from The Woodlands, TX, which is a northern suburb of Houston. I currently have no experience in real estate or real estate investing. What I do have is a burning desire to get the hell out of the rat race  and to build something with my own two hands... and real estate is one avenue I am currently considering to make that happen.

A little background on me. I'm a 37 year old husband and father of two great kids. I have been in Human Resources in the Banking industry for 13 years. There is nothing wrong with my job. I am at the top of my department within the company, the pay and benefits are great, and the schedule is flexible enough to allow reasonable work/life balance. There are a lot of people that would think I was crazy for not enjoying it. The problem is that it will NEVER lead to financial freedom. I will be chained to the same desk in the same office forever, and the chain has begun to chafe.

Here's where I'm at and how I came to find BP. I have managed to save enough to 1) safely quit my day job with about a 12 month security net in the bank and 2) have a nice nest egg with which to begin a business. My immediate goal is to develop a business plan that will allow me to duplicate my current annual salary within 12 months. Once I have that plan together I will take the plunge. From there my goal is to optimize the plan and the processes so that my wife can join me and shed her day job within 24 months.

At this point in my research it seems like a combination of flipping and BRRRR is a good way to begin, but I am very interested in any advice you guys might have from the real world.

If anyone reading this is in the Spring/The Woodlands/Conroe area and would like to grab some coffee (or something stronger), definitely hit me up!
