Hi folks! I'm new to this real estate thing. I've spent the last few months researching, crunching numbers, and planning my first move. In the midst of my first duplex purchase. I currently rent one side and worked out a deal with my landlord to buy. So I'm gonna stay in my half and keep renting to my current neighbor. Hoping to learn a lot of the course of the next year - tax implications, what it means to be a landlord, how to sharpen my budgeting, and etc.

Welcome and congratulations! That is a fantastic way to get started.
I'm on the south side too. Perhaps we should start a south side meetup, unless there is one already and I haven't heard about it yet?!
