Newbie from Hampton Roads, VA

Hello BP Community!

My name is Rae Edwards. I am from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia (Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, etc). I am 24 years old, I recently graduated college where I earned my MBA while playing basketball. I am currently living in Morocco, Africa where I play professional basketball!

I am interested in real estate investing because passive income has always been appealing to me. I know that living my dream as a pro player will only last so long, but why not earn passively even while I'm abroad for a few months out of the year? I have been researching through Bigger Pockets (Youtube and Podcasts) and other sources for about a year now.

While here I am doing all the extensive research that I can. I will be back in the states this summer and my goal is to obtain a single family home or duplex. I'm finding that the hardest part is simply getting started!

I am looking forward to learning more through these forums.

I'm a newbie myself, but I am house hacking my primary residence, doing a "live and flip," and in negotiation with my first rental. Between local reia's and BP marketplace, I see a ton of deals come up in the area; just online through wholesalers alone. You shouldn't have much trouble finding a deal as long as you have the financial figured out.

Congrats on going pro with basketball that's impressive.
