New Investor in Los Angeles

I am a 21 year old jumping headfirst into real estate investing. Armed with $20,000, youthful ambition, and (I quote my grandmother here) a good head on my shoulders. I am from a small town in Southern Oregon, but currently live in Hollywood, CA and work in the film industry. I love my job and the life I’ve made down here, but the idea of having a way to be financially secure and grow wealth is too good an opportunity to pass up. Additionally, my parents quickly approaching retirement is fueling my desire to generate passive income for them.

My mission: Grow a steady source of passive income for my parents when they retire in a few years, and build my portfolio of homes to ultimately grant myself financial freedom (and the ability to finance my own movies. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to convince investors films are a good idea.)

My plan: Buy and hold real estate in Southern Oregon, mostly small single family and multi-family properties, using my father (a handyman and former property manager) to manage the homes while I am away. My goal is to have my first deal done by February 28th. I will continue to expand my portfolio indefinitely and possibly into other markets.

I look forward to becoming an active part of both the Bigger Pockets and the real estate community, meeting other investors and beginning my journey to make Robert Kiyosaki proud.

Sincerely,

Samuel Gostnell
