Hello from Peculiar, MO! (What? Never heard of it?)

Guess I did this a little backwards - stared posting in the forums before I introduced myself. I'm just itching to get stared :o)

I've been in the Kansas City area since 2000 (Peculiar is 45mins from downtown Kansas City), Springfield/Branson area before that, and East Cost as a kid. A computer geek by day and a Zillow-addict by night, I realized recently that, even though we've found our dream home, I still *love* looking at properties and thinking of the possibilities.

My husband bought a duplex in '96 (pre-wife) and lived in one half while renting out the other. He soon moved out because he couldn't afford it. Fast forward twenty years, a refi, and a few kids later, and I started taking a closer look at the numbers. To my surprise, little to no cash flow. We thought we wanted to get it paid off as soon as possible, but are now realizing that's not in line with our goals. So, after running the numbers and looking at options, we've decided to sell and start fresh with the equity from that property to build cash flow from new buy and hold properties.

We'd like to keep things local to start, so we would like to connect with sellers, property managers, and contractors around the KCMO metro (especially the Missouri side - Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, Independence, Grandview, Belton, Raymore) and around Springfield, MO (Nixa, Ozark, etc.).

Looking forward to learning all I can from everyone here!
