Hello, my name is Tyler Cartwright and I am from Southern Ontario, Canada. I am 19 years old and am new to real estate. I'm currently unemployed and am working at a temp agency doing whatever I can until I find a full time position. I am an artist and am very passionate towards that. I also really enjoy reading and basically philosophizing and learning in general. I chose not to pursue post secondary education because I knew it would land me in debt, and I've seen enough people who've graduated college or university end up struggling to pay the bills and find a job they qualify for and in debt (my mother who was a single mother of 3 kids for example). With that, I of course knew I had to figure out how I was going map out the rest of my life and be able to support myself and a family in the future. This eventually led me to the discovery of real estate investing. My attention was immediately drawn specifically to multi family investment properties, and I've been trying to learn as much about it as I can since. Shortly after this I came across the biggerpockets forum and podcast. Coming across the biggerpockets podcasts immediately solidified my interest in real estate because aside from learning that it's not some big scary venture (as I was kind of taught to believe growing up), but that the people I've heard on the podcasts are just regular people like me and want to achieve financial freedom and are taking advantage of opportunities that are out there and available to all of us. I understand that it's not a get rich quick scheme, and that achieving your goals in this business require a lot of persistence, but as Grant Cardone says, "It's easier to get rich once, than stay broke forever." My plan at this point is to first find a full time job, then, work as hard as I can and open a sacred account that automatically takes 60% of every check. I will continue to work on my art and plan to approach galleries to sell my works as well as do murals which will provide me with a second flow of income that I can bank into that sacred account. I want my first investment to be in an apartment with at least 25 units. I know it will take time before I make that first investment and that I have a lot of saving and learning to do. I believe making this account is a great first step because hopefully I could meet successful investors in my area who have focused on apartment buildings and who would potentially be willing to give me some insight into the business and allow me to pick their brain. My journey starts here, and I anticipate what the future has to offer and all that I will experience and learn along the way!
