Military Homeowner in Colorado

Hello,

Long time member, first time poster.

To be completely honest, I thought this site was a scam for the longest time until I started a new job with a long commute. I started listening to the podcast about a month ago and I'm about halfway through. I'm addicted.

I'm now convinced that this site is legit and one of the common themes during the podcasts and "quuuuuick tips" is to post and network. So here I am.

I'm a military guy in the Springs but, I just started working up in Aurora. I can't keep up this commute so this is an opportune time for me to do a couple of things.

I own my home in the Springs and I plan on renting it out. It needs some work though, so if anyone knows a reputable contractor, send them my way!

I then plan to buy a duplex or at the very least a 3/2 very near Buckley AFB in Aurora. So I'll be looking for deals up there.

I plan on retiring in 12ish years and would like to supplement my retirement income with buy and hold rental properties.

As is also recommended on the podcast, in exchange for knowledge, I will gladly pay for coffee, lunch, dinner, beers, etc.

I could certainly use a mentor as I am just starting out in this game.

Thanks and I look forward to meeting and working with some of you in the future!

Thank you, all!

Quick update: Over the last few days since this post I have;

- "Networked" with another property manager by walking across the street to meet the owner of another rental (turns out they own 8). I offered to buy them lunch in exchange for knowledge. The husband just walked over to my place and we talked for 20 minutes or so. Lots of good info...for free!

- Found a property manager for my place here in the Springs from that conversation.

- Found an amazing handyman by searching Craigslist. He and my new contact then networked.

It's crazy how quickly this snowballs when you take action! I still haven't even contacted those of you who responded to this post. I will do that now and increase my network even further.

This is awesome!
