Hello my name is Jeff McBride, a new real estate investor living in Centerville, Utah. My background is in Civil Engineering working on land development and transportation projects.  I'm looking to learn about buy and hold real estate investing and have enjoyed the podcast, forums, and webinars.

Welcome to BP everyone. I've been on BP for a few months and have been trying to network with key individuals here locally. That's actually how I got my first flip deal in Ogden (closed last month and will begin rehab work in 3 weeks, after tenants are out). One thing that has really helped me is setting up email alerts from real estate listing sites (I like to use Estately). I have an alert for anytime a new house is listed in Layton, or a house under $200k is listed in Davis County, or a new house comes online in Weber county for less than $140k. By doing this, I feel like I have my finger on the pulse about how hot each submarket is. By doing this and and analzing all potential deals (maybe 1-2 per day), I've probably now analyzed 75+ homes and I feel like I know with more surety whether a property is a good deal or not. I'd be happy to be a resource if you have any Davis County questions too.
