Aspiring Investor in Alabama

Hello, I am new to Bigger Pockets and I am interested in getting into Real Estate investing in Oxford and/or Jacksonville Alabama area. I just obtained my real estate license 2 months ago and I am trying to decide who to list my license with to help me along this real estate journey ..... Small company, large company or flat fee company? Being that my primary focus is NOT sales, keeping more of the profits from flips would most certainly be the smarter choice.

Also, being from a small town, there are not any REIA's in my immediate area. Does anyone see value in going to a REIA in a larger area that is about an hour away (i.e. Birmingham, AL)? Thanks. I look forward to connecting with some experienced and newbie investors.

Thanks Jack. I will check that out.  Do you know if the first meeting is free because I thought I saw somewhere that there was a charge for the Leeds meetup?

Hi Pamela,

I'm originally from Bham and would like to connect.  I live in Los Angeles but am considering buy and hold and flips in the greater Bham area.

@Pamela Brady

Welcome take full advantage of the BP resources.

Check out the Start Here page http://www.biggerpockets.com/starthere

Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and rehabbers (cash buyers). Find them through Google and meetup.com Find out where the investor/agents hang and why.

Two Great reads, I bought both J. Scott The Book on Flipping Houses, The Book on Estimating ReHab Costs http://www.biggerpockets.com/flippingbook

Welcome and good luck with your journey. I feel like I am on information overload right now with all the blogs, podcasts, books etc. I really want to make a move but just deciding how and which one to take is a challenge...getting distracted by all the pretty objects...lol. Good luck.
