Beginning the Investment Journey

Hello Everyone! My wife and I are just beginning our real estate investing journey. I've spent the past several months getting educated on various aspects of investment, and financial intelligence. Currently, I'm involved in the Rich Dad coaching program to further my education. I've mostly read Rich Dad associated books, but am reading Brandon Turner's Book on Rental Property Investing at the moment.

Personally, my goal is to obtain financial independence. Allowing my wife and I to spend more time with our four children, and enjoy life in a way that we can't by working in the rat race. We want to be able to live comfortably, without the stresses of a job and retirement afterwards.

We have made the decision to sell our current home, and use the gains to pay off all 'bad debt' and invest in multiple rental properties. We're looking to invest in the Boise, Idaho area, and potentially Spokane, Washington area. This is for two reasons. I am originally from Spokane, and most of my family and friends are still there. Boise is significantly closer to home than our current residence in California. The market there seems to be prime for investment, based on the research I've done on the northwestern area of the U.S. We're looking at Spokane mainly because I'm familiar with the city and it's surrounding areas. Eventually, we will move up that direction for our permanent residence.

This site seems to be a great community and resource for all thing real estate. I look forward to meeting and corresponding with people on here. That's a long introduction, but I appreciate anyone taking the time to read it :)
