Hello everyone!

My name is Eric Maynez and I'm new to Bigger Pockets! I am very interested in buying and holding property and also Flipping homes. I am currently looking for my first home with my wife here in the Kalamazoo or Portage area! If there is any information about the area that you guys know about definitely let me know. Not sure which is the best way to start out whether I should live in my first property for a year or so and then turn around and rent it out or if I should try and do a flip first? All the help and advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

Eric,

Consider buying a duplex, triplex, or 4-plex. Live in one unit and have your tenants pay most or all of your mortgage.

You can do that with an FHA loan with very little money down.

Check out the ultimate beginners book here on Bigger Pockets.

Welcome!

Brian
