Hi BP community,
I am new to RE investing. I grew up with parents that have a few rental properties and worked in property management for 4 years, and an MBA, but I want to get into RE investing on another level full-time. I have been wishing, and researching, and strategizing the types of properties my husband and I would invest in, how we would manage them, and its time to take another step. The biggest hurdle is financing, so once that piece is solved for, we will be able to take another step. For now, we are looking to network and learn from others already in the business who are willing to share lessons and things they wish theythey knew in the beginning.
Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and rehabbers (cash buyers). Find them through Google and meetup.com
Jacksonville is a great market to get started in. There is alot going on here. If I can help in any way, feel free to connect with me. I can share lessons learned and contacts. I am interested in hearing what you have decided on for a strategy so far.
Welcome aboard! I'm looking into get into the Jacksonville market over the coming years as well, and wish you all the best. If you'd ever like to talk financing strategies, analyzing deals, etc. as practice, let me know! I'm trying to get as much hands-on learning as possible, even if not *real* action on *real* deals, to try and make that leap next year to get the ball rolling.

Welcome to the BP community! You will find that BP is an excellent resource with tons of great information and helpful people. Jacksonville is a great place for real estate investing. If you haven't already, figure out what segment of real estate you want to invest in. Then learn as much as you can about it and network with people who are already doing it.
Hi Nieka, I agree with @Paul Timmins foundation advice....Attend a local REI meeting in JAX and start networking.
Lets grab coffee & chat someday & maybe go to one of these REI meetings together. I have asked several girlfriends to come out to one with me but they are so tired of me talking about real estate all the time that they certainly don't want to go to a meeting :) It would be great to have someone to go with. PM me if you are game and also what area of JAX are you focusing in on?
That sounds nice! I havent figured out how to PM yet, but I would have liked to start out in the St. Johns area, but that will have to wait at least a year. I have to overcome the financing side. I continue to hear you have to get creative but I have never been one to ask for money, granted I understand the point is to pay it back, but I have not built up to that point yet. I hope to save enough for a small deal and then continually build on that...or until I am comfortable with other creative strategies.
Took me a while to figure out how to PM and that was after I figured out what PM even meant. HA! Keep listening to the BP podcasts and grab some of the books that the investors recommend. I subscribed to audible.com and for about $15 mo I am able to power thru the books. It works out that you will get at least 2 a month and sometimes I am able to get 3 books in a month depending how many credits the book calls for. The more you hear the podcasts and read these books you will realize that "overcoming the financing side" isnt the hurdle you think it is now. Best of luck and look forward to hearing from you.
