Greetings BiggerPockets Community!
My name is Mawa Keita and I just started my real estate journey in April 2016. I became interested in real estate after talking to a friend of a friend who has been successful in the business for many years. I was mostly intrigued by the fact that he has the financial freedom that I desire and he works for himself.
My parents immigrated to the US from Guinea, West Africa before I was born. We live in Houston, Texas where I am currently working in the healthcare informatics industry as an Implementation Manager, which is similar to project management. My job is interesting, but I crave the freedom of self-employment.
My project management experiences have allowed me to learn some valuable skills that I could easily transfer to a new career in real estate and I am excited to get started. I have been watching webinars and reading the blogs and books made available on BiggerPockets. In my short time being a member on the site, I was able to gain a few leads from my direct mail marketing campaigns. I have completed three walk-throughs and look forward to making my first deal.
I am mostly interested in wholesaling for now, but would love to get into flipping and rentals in the next few months. In the next year, I want to see myself doing real estate full time; eventually building a business that will allow me to have time to make music and travel.
As a BiggerPockets member, I hope to make connections with experts in the industry who have advice and knowledge to share. I would like to make connections with potential buyers and colleagues who would be willing to finance future deals.
