Ready to Hit the Floor Running.

I think this was posted in the wrong forum so I'm reposting it here:

I'm new to BP so I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Erick Moreno and I'm in the Houston TX area. Cypress to be exact.

I've been interested in RE investing for a long time. I first thought I would start my real estate knowledge by first taking a RE Inspectors course. ( Did not get my license though). A few years later I got my RE License and was a Realtor for some years. I realized that I did love working in real estate but did not like working with clients that would not listen to my advice. I have been to some Investor workshops and meet and greets. My wife and I did take the 2 day course at Lifestyles Unlimited a few years ago but we had no money to get started and they were not wanting to work with us of course. That was very discouraging.

I am self employed now but in a business I'm ready to leave and start my real passion. With my wife and family on board and with my experience in real estate I'm looking forward to start investing.

My goals are to learn as much as possible about investing, meet other investors in my area and start investing in real estate this year. Like the title says, I'm ready to hit the floor running. Besides my RE background I'm not sure how I can be helpful to anyone but I pride myself on being a good people person and a good listener.

I look forward to conversing with you all and maybe hopefully meet some of you.

@Account Closed I hear ya on the overflowing bookshelf. I probably order a new book off amazon just about every day! I need to read faster as they're starting to pile up in the "not read" section! I'm currently reading Kiyosaki's rich dad poor dad...of course, its pretty much required reading for newbie investors. I see why it's the #1 personal finance book of all time...very eye opening. As with most of the podcast guests, I too recommend new investors read it.

Are you going to the Houston investors meetup near Bush airport tomorrow? I heard about that one and may drop in to check it out. Maybe i'll see you there.

Could definitely get some help from you on finding a first deal since you'll be wholesaling. I don't have the time to go looking for properties myself, otherwise I would. I've been in contact with New Western Acquisitions and have a meeting with a guy tomorrow about getting put on their approved buyers list.
