My wife and I have been investing in the USA now for around 4years. We have single family homes in Atlanta / Memphis / Cape Coral / Toledo / Detroit / Kansas City / Akron OH.
By far the biggest challenge we have found has been in finding honest and reliable property managers. That is property managers whom are proactive / and keep you informed / are transparent etc. This has been by far the biggest challenge and its stopped us from further investing due to all the past problems. Some of them play on the fact that your out of state, overseas....I have become very good at reading the signs / common traits for the rouge ones.....

Sorry you've had trouble with your property managers. If you use BP to vet managers in the markets you operate, I think you will find that your success rate will improve significantly.
