new member from Texas

Hello all, 

I am new to the site and business and I have no clue where to start...recently lost my job due to new management taking over so I have time on my hands to start making money for me...I went to a real estate seminar and enjoyed the aspect of it but then it came to the point where I had to purchase a 3 day course that would teach me everything I need to know...I didn't have that kind of money so I left disappointed....it gave me the desire to try and figure it out on my own so any help is appreciated and needed
