Live In Tokyo Invest In Seattle, WA

Hello,

After years of lurking on the forums and listening to podcasts, I have finally opened an account on Bigger pockets.   This website has been a tremendous learning tool for me.  It has also helped endure many insanely packed trains on my commute here in Tokyo.

I have been living in Japan for 10+ years.    I am a buy and hold investor of single family rental properties in Seattle.   It sure has not been easy doing this from Tokyo.   But, it could definitely be done.  My goal is move into multi family properties in the near future.

A big thanks to Josh and Brenden for this site and also to all the experienced investors who have shared their knowledge on the forums.

Regards,

Mark

Mindy,   Thank you for those Podcast recommendations.    I have already listened to the last two.  Like many of the podcast, they were informative and inspirational.   I will listen to the earlier (#35) one.

Jinwoo,    Thank you for the reply.   Yes, there are many properties that could be bought very cheaply here in Japan outside of Tokyo.   But, I would not consider them good investments given the aging demographics here.   Also, the quality of construction here is quite poor.    A average home only has an life here of about 20-30 years.   After that, it is considered a tear down.   Only the land will have remaining value.  The house will likely be considered to have no value.

But, if you wanted to buy a place near the ocean or in the mountains as second home.   There's a huge amount of properties abound.    You will just never likely be able to sell it in the future.
