REI in DFW texas area

I'm a new RN who has always dreamt of REI.

At the moment i am swaying back and fourth between purchasing a small quadplex to start out with (while i am finish grad school) or just going big with an entire apartment complex(which might hinder my studies).

Im currently living in syracuse NY but am relocating to DFW texas area in mid 2016.

My main interest is to own an entire apartment complex of anywhere from 10-40 units. Since i have to pay for garbage removal, yard maintenance, and other fees, i figure why not have all of my units in one area to cut down costs. It also seems to me that if I'm in the position to be able to make a bigger investment up front we will see a larger cash flow in a shorter amount of time as opposed to just buying a duplex, triplex, or quadplex. amirite or no? would love to hear from seasoned investors what their thoughts are. pros and cons I'm sure exist on each side- so am always open to hearing other points of view. thanks!
