Not-Quite-Budding Entrepreneur

Hello, Bigger Pockets Community!

I'm a Madison, WI resident who is currently learning what it takes to be a successful real estate investor. Like many other people, I was first inspired to study real estate investing when I listened to the Rich Dad Poor Dad audiobook by Robert Kiyosaki. What I found most interesting was the cashflow quadrant, and the idea that an asset is not truly an asset unless it puts money in your pocket. I found Bigger Pockets by searching YouTube for real estate investing videos -- I was instantly hooked.

I call myself a not-quite-budding entrepreneur because, well, I haven't really started my business yet. I'm a veteran, a college student, and a full-time employee. There have been many, many days of wishing I could drop out of college, quit my job, and dive right in to real estate investing. This leads me to the most important lesson I've learned so far: Do things right, and take your time. I'm fairly young, but I have definitely learned from the repercussions of doing things wrong and not taking my time.

I don't necessarily want to "use" my degree (pursuing a BBA), but I know that completing my degree will do wonders for my psyche. Focusing on school also forces me to take my time with learning the basics of real estate investing and getting my finances as prepared as possible for the pursuit of my life goal. What do I want out of my life? I want what every man wants, I just want it more (Achilles line from the movie Troy). No, I don't want to be a famous Greek hero, but I do want to escape the rat race like most other men and women in this community. I want to contribute to the world, see the world, and be as free as I can be.

Too Long; Didn't Read: I'm new! Let's be friends!
