Working on getting my 2nd rental property. The first is a vacation rental in Gulf Shores, AL. Now looking for a 2-4 unit in Chicago.

Mark Ainley - In South Shore. I do have an pending contract on a 2-flat right now, but trying to sort out the IRA non-recourse loan situation. A lender I was planning on using said no properties built before 1940. ALL properties I've been looking at are built around 1900. They are wonderful buildings with historic charm. The property I'm interested in has been fully gutted and rehabbed, so it has the charm plus all the modern amenities. So it's hard to hear that (IRA) lenders don't want to do these buildings.
