I ran across Biggerpockets when researching hard money lenders for a deal that was in the works. I found the site resourceful and decided I'd like to be a part of it.
I'm a partner in a commercial general contracting firm by day and work on personal projects at night and during the weekends. My wife and I have always wanted to get into real estate investing, and we started in September of 2013. We had an acre of property in Titusville that already had a septic tank on it. We purchased a used mobile home, had it moved to the site, renovated it, and rented it in September of 2014. All in all, we invested about 20K in the project and we've had a GREAT tenant for about a year now. We decided that since we had done so well on our first deal, it was time for another one. We didn't have too much money saved up, so we started looking for fixer uppers and hard money lenders. We found one and made an offer. It was a multiple offer situation and we now own it.
We are closing this week on a 4,000 sf home on 2.5 acres and are about to embark on a new adventure. I'm sure we'll be spending quite a bit of time on the forums!
