Fresh New BP Addict from Sacramento, CA

I am finally officially a BP member after weeks of secretly being addicted to the podcast!

I am a researcher with my Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology. After defending my dissertation recently, I suddenly found myself in the confines of a cubicle, working a 9-5 in order to live in the same place as my military husband. Our goal is to break me out of my cubicle and be financial free by the end of his time in the Air Force.

My only experience with real estate is the purchase of our first home in the beautiful Curtis Park neighborhood of Sacramento (one month after my PhD defense). I managed to pull off the entire purchase, from looking to owning, while my husband was away on a 2-month deployment. I bought it with a power of attorney express mailed to me from the other side of the planet, and my husband came home to a new house that he had only seen on Skype. That's trust!

We are largely interested in multifamily rentals on the east coast, where we hope to return. We have family in Athens, Georgia who are going to help with the long distance (yipes!).

I'm so glad we have BP to get advice and encouragement!
