Newbie in St. Louis by way of Florida

Hello all! I'm Monica S. a licensed Florida attorney seeking to expand her real estate knowledge and hopefully make a profitable career change. I've joined this site to share information, meet real estate folks from all backgrounds and learn a thing or two. :-)

I have been in real estate in some form or fashion for quite a while. I was a real estate agent in the 1990s, then a property manager for almost 6 years. I was a mayoral appointed board commissioner for a senior citizens housing facility for 3 years and then a Florida foreclosure attorney for 2 years.

Right now I'm in the early stages of my journey to become a real estate investor. I'm reading all of the books listed on www.biggerpockets.com/bestbooks and a few others. I'm reading through all of the forums on Bigger Pockets and feeding my brain as much as possible.  

My short term goal is to buy a duplex then house hack for awhile.  I would like to add several multifamily units to my portfolio to buy and hold and eventually buy and flip properties as well.  I'm also considering wholesaling but right now I want to do more research before going for it.  

I'm currently located in St. Louis, MO but will most likely return to Florida toward the end of the year. I would like to own property in both places.

My goal here is to learn new things, meet new people and share information.
