Newbie from Jersey City, New Jersey

Hello BP,

Really glad to be joining the community and excited about the future. My name is Joseph Lanzot and I currently live in Jersey City, New Jersey. I am completely new to real estate and my experience so far consists of reading the book Millionaire Real Estate Investor, attending a couple of REIA meetings, and listening to the BP Podcasts (which are absolutely great!). I'm really excited and ready to go out and get my first deal under my belt soon.

I am currently a public interest attorney.  And while I do like my job, I have never felt the excitement or the passion for it that I have been feeling in the short time I've been learning about real estate investing.  Having always loved looking at open houses as a kid, and currently always chasing the best deals around multiple supermarkets on any given day, I am looking forward to the challenges, lifestyle, and possibilities of real estate investing.

I plan on doing some wholesaling deals initially to get experience making deals.  However, my long term goals are to buy and hold a portfolio of multifamily houses and apartment units.  (Getting rid of my student loan debt and becoming financially free would also be a plus!)  I know this will take time and a lot of hard work, but I am motivated and committed to succeed for me and for my family.  Having read some of the forums already, I am excited to join a community where everyone wants to help everyone else reach their personal goals.  I am looking forward to learning and helping others in any way I can.

Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and rehabbers (cash buyers).
