Hey BP,

Glad to have found this awesome community full of knowledge, can't wait to see how much I can learn from you guys.  I been listening to a lot of the podcasts and taking a lot of notes.

Born and raised in Fresno, CA and Alumni of Fresno State.  I am a full time engineer, on the road worldwide 80% of the time so I spend a lot of time in hotels.  Wanted to buy a house for myself but since I'm never around I felt it would be wasteful, last year with interest rates and housing market so low (before i even knew about BP!), I took a leap and purchased a short sale single family home to be used as a rental property.  Locked in a low interest rate and been coming out positive, tenants just renewed for a 2nd year so I am feeling really good, maintenance work has been minimal.  Starting to look for a 2nd property in Fresno to continue building my fortune.

Currently:
-Learning a lot about tax breaks / deductions available 
-Landlording, 
-Different ways to increase ROI (interested in how others are doing in the same market)
-Weighing pros and cons(risk) if I should try section 8 tenants
-finding good repair/maintenance men
