New Investor in Raleigh, NC
Hello All,
My name is Brett and I am finally taking the plunge to introduce myself (okay, maybe dipping my toe in would be a better analogy) to the community. I have been lurking in the background trying to soak up information for a while now. I have been listening to the Bigger Pockets podcast for quite a while (pretty sure I have listened to just about every episode at this point - some more than once). I am interested in being a buy and hold investor and would like to acquire enough property to allow even greater financial freedom than I currently enjoy (I am lucky enough to enjoy the work that I do outside of real estate). I am looking to build a network and with folks that are honest, have integrity and understand that success is something that is not only best achieved together, but best enjoyed in that manner as well. Looking forward to getting to know folks better and hope that I can be of some small service as I continue to learn and grow in this industry. Thanks to all as I have already gained more than I have given but am looking forward to balancing that equation moving forward.

@Joel Owens If you don't mind my asking, where in NC are you looking and why?
@Joe Fairless That is great advice that I wish I had heard before kids! We are very fortunate to live in a neighborhood that we enjoy but that makes no sense whatsoever to invest in from a cash flow perspective. When the kids head to college, however, that is a very real and distinct possibility that we will be looking into for them - rather have room and board paid by someone else if at all possible during those years. Joe, I would be curious to know how you have made it work in New York - do you invest outside of the area in which you live?
Thanks to you both for your advice and input it is very much appreciated!
