Hey everyone, my name is Jay,I'm a 22 year old student currently working for State Farm in northern California. I'm joining BiggerPockets to hopefully gain some insight on how to invest wisely, manage properties, make friends, and ultimately get closer to owning my very first property.
How did I get into investing/business? I've read two of Robert Kiyosaki's books (I'm sure plenty of people have mixed views on him and the books), I've learned as much as I could from several mentors, and I'm constantly thinking of breaking from the mundane cycle of going to school to get a career, and I'm hoping to own my own business someday. (I have never invested into anything, nor do I know exactly what kind of business I want to run. I want to invent, not replicate. I almost launched an automotive paint business last year, but California's laws made it really difficult for me. While the laws are changing to make the specific paint legal, I might take advantage of the monopoly since no one within a huge radius around me knows of the paint, PlastiDip)
Not to toot my own horn, but I know I'm a natural leader with a strong outgoing personality. Pair that with how I view my money, and I feel like by not putting these traits to the test I would just be a wasting potential. While I have many interests, all varying from music production, video game development, cars, and even real estate, I just don't get excited about getting a degree for any of them and hoping to land a career, working that "9-5".
While I will always have much to learn, I feel "ready" to take the leap and start gaining some momentum in regards to starting a business of my own, or at least owning some rental properties. I'm young, and I want to take advantage of that in order to build a strong foundation for my future.
Real Estate is a a relatively new field to me, but I know just enough to get by. I'm hoping to learn a lot here at BiggerPockets and I'm looking forward to any kind of advice or guidance I can get!
