Excited to Grow with the BP Community
Hello All, I joined Bigger Pockets pretty recently, and I am excited to learn as much as I can from those further along in their journey than me, while also being able to help those that I can. I work for a property management company, so I get to see a lot of rookie mistakes from the outside looking in. I'm hoping this leads to me avoiding a lot of those early mistakes, but we'll see how well that actually holds up.
The main thing I am excited about with Bigger Pockets is hearing opinions and thoughts from a wide array of people. Like many real estate investors, my friends and family are not in this world, so I don't talk real estate with them. Fortunately, with my job, I do have people there to discuss it with and learn from, but I am still excited to expand that knowledge base further than my immediate circle.
On my personal real estate journey, I am currently under construction on a new-build triplex that I'll be house hacking. I am a minority partner in 19 doors and an extreme minority investor in a fund of 54 doors. I've still got plenty to learn, but I’m excited to keep growing!

@Rene Hosman I am building the triplex in the main market we manage in - Lima, Ohio. It is a small market with a population around 30k, but since we have so many connections in the area, it really helped get something unusual like this off the ground. For example, a bank would never give someone like me who hasn't built before, a loan to build like this, but we are doing it through our company which has a great track record and I will buy it upon completion.
I mainly went with a new build because I thought it was a very unique opportunity given the connections I have working in a development and property management company. There is a lot of really old housing stock in our area, but I really thought this would stand out. It will be the only ranch-style triplex in the area that I know of. That, combined with a couple other factors, has me confident that it will get the top rent in the area for any multifamily unit!
It definitely comes with its risks, but I'm confident the high rent and income-driven appreciation will make up for those.
