A big hello to the BP community. I have been lurking for quite some time now and I recently (as in, 5 minutes ago) decided that I should make an account. I mean it's free, so why not?

The community here is quite vast and the wealth of knowledge (and just flat-out wealth as well, now that I think about it) represented on this site is not only impressive, but extremely inspiring for an aspiring person in the realm of real estate, such as myself.

Okay, so who am I?

My name is Dylan and I am a native of the Capital District of New York, having been born here only some 18 years ago. I am currently a sophomore at Siena College majoring in Economics with a minor in Spanish (quite an interesting mix, ¿no? I am a driven individual who takes pride in success as well as learning from failure. I am a newbie in this area as neither of my parents, nor any of my friends, are in the real estate industry.

Okay so what has sparked my interest?

Well, the idea of getting rich in days with no money down, and no credit; dropping out of college, never working for anyone but myself, and being able to retire before my career ever starts are some reasons that are on the list. And by "list," I am referring to my list of reasons that ARE NOT responsible for my having grown fond of the idea of real estate investment, wholesale and rehabbing.

The truth is that I have a business-driven mind that likes a good challenge and finds enjoyment in planning to undertake the most difficult tasks available. I recognize the risks, difficulties, and other negative aspects of this type of work, yet I also appreciate the rewards available to those that have good work-ethic and a perserverant spirit.

As such, I would like to see if I can develop myself as a wholesaler, or perhaps as a bird-dogger, and go from there. I would love to hear from any veterans, or even newbies that are more advanced; what has worked for you? what are the "do-nots" of the business from your experiences? who should I know?
