New Member Introduction
What's up y'all!
My name is Maykel and I'm located in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. I'm an aspiring real estate investor and have been learning about the industry like a madman. I'm currently 22 years old and just graduated undergrad. In August I will be attending law school in Dallas. I would love to connect with other real estate investors in the Rio Grande Valley so if you see this post let's connect!

Welcome, Welcome. I reside in Austin, Tx but invest in the valley and born and raised in Brownsville. Do you have an idea of what areas in the valley your interested in investing in?
I've spent the last 4 years in Austin for undergad! I'm looking primarily in Hidalgo County. I'd love to invest in my hometown (Edcouch-Elsa) but am also interested in surrounding areas like Edinburg and Weslaco (as they're the biggest cities nearby). What cities do you invest in?
Nice I did my undergrad in San Marcos. I'd say start with what you know so if your primarily from or know Hidalgo County well go for it, you got plenty of bigger towns there, Mcallen, Edinburg, and Mission. Myself since im from the Cameron County area, I focused on Harlingen and Brownsville. Now ready to dive into the neighboring county though. If you got family near by makes it easy to have boots on the ground and have some one pass by the property while your knocking out law school and the bar.
I'm guessing you already know some of this but focus on what your buy box is. I know when I was looking at properties, I was kinda all over the place until I came up with a game plan with what I could do living in Austin and having my family back home doing any repairs if need be. If you have any questions I can try to answer, not a pro investor by any means but just going through the motions building up my portfolio.
Thank you for being a resource! As of right now I'm just learning as much as I can as I'm not confident in the idea of investing while in law school. If I were to invest right now I would have to look at some type of creative financing as my income is low and DTI ratio high. Looking forward to engaging with this community and furthering my knowledge however!
