BP Introduction
Hello everyone, my name is Matt. I'm 24 years old, and a husband and father of two. My family and I reside in the charming Elizabethtown, Pa. I am an Industrial Maintenance Technician by trade, and my wife is a stay at home mommy. My goals in joining the bigger pockets forums is to become educated in the process of real estate investing. I'm most interested in buy and hold investing. My long term goal would be to make enough money through my investments to have the option of leaving my day job.
Now on to a bit of a question. My dad came to me last week and said he knew a local investor, who's wife is a very prominent real estate agent in the area. I asked him if he would be able to connect me with them, so he called and they said to have me give them a call after the holidays. Sounds promising, right? Here's the thing, I'm not exactly sure what they will be expecting, and I'm not really sure what I should say. I mean what do I ask them? Do I come out and say, "Hey do you mind giving me access to your network?", or, "Hey, would you be interested in being my mentor?". Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome as well @Matthew Soflarsky . BP is a great site to gain information.
What I've been doing in my area is taking investors, preferably the bigger players, out to lunch and picking their brains. My mental checklist is to figure out what it is they need to get where they are going. Then I hope I can figure out a way to be that helping hand. I've offered to help with rehabs, do paper work, be feet on the ground for out of state investors, etc. You can probably tell from that I don't have the capital necessary to become a monetary partner. Therefore, get creative and figure out what you may have to offer.
I think as you meet this person, because they are a Realtor, you'll want to consider what your goals are. Are you going to do rehabs, rentals, vacant land, partnerships, or just looking to learn? Obviously she's more accustomed to helping find deals and may be thrown off if you're just in it to learn. At the very least, make sure the meeting is worth the person's time.
