Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm an engineer here in San Diego. Lately, maybe due to having my first child, I've been thinking about investing in my future. I started getting into dividend stock investing and now want to invest more in real estate.

My first experience in real estate was not very good (invested in Phoenix back in 2004), but my second experience has been much better. Before inventory started to really tank, and prices started to rise, my wife and I was able to get a condo on a shortsale. After living in the condo for a year, we bought house and rented out the condo.

I've always been interested in investing in multifamily homes (buy and hold), so I recently started googling how to invest in multifamily. The search took me to Brandon Turner's "Real Estate in Your Twenties" blog, which led me here to BiggerPockets. This is a great community. I've been reading tons of articles, and listening to the podcasts, all while keeping an eye out for deals.
