Hello! My name is Matthew, and my wife, Rae, and I are trying to get started in REI as a side business to our careers. I am a mechanical engineer in the commercial HVAC design field, and I want to use some of that knowledge in the residential real estate market. We currently live in Muncie, IN as Rae is attending grad school at Ball State University, and we are looking to focus in rentals, including, but not limited to, student housing. I hope to create a system that will follow us as we move after school in a few years.

Our current goal is to buy a multifamily house hack that we would live in while we're in Muncie, 2-4 units. I also like the idea of BRRRR, partly because renovating houses brings a lot of joy and satisfaction.

Fun fact: Rae and I met in Greece! It was on a college study abroad, but we didn't become friends until two years afterward during our last year of school.

I'm looking to make connections and gain wisdom from all the knowledge on this site. I started listening to the podcast from the start a few months ago, and am currently reading The Book on Rental Property InvestingRich Dad Poor Dad, and The Book on Flipping Houses, to start  my knowledge journey. I also attended one REIA meeting in Muncie to get started!
