Ceiling Fans in Alaska

Are ceiling fans in Alaska a worthy investment for rentals? I grew up in Alaska and I never used them all that much, but I also know Alaska gets some occasional heat waves in the summer. Should I install ceiling fans, or leave tenants to purchase their own standing fans?

I wouldn't bother unless it's a higher end rental, like a nice sfr. Even then probably just in the master bedroom. I have never had any complaints or anyone tell me they don't want to rent a place because it doesn't have ceiling fans.

@Joe Tapangco - agree fully! As long as you can open a window it never gets all that hot here for most people. Now you might get an ROI on a ceiling fan if you need to push some warm air down in the winter from a vaulted ceiling!

@Joe Tapangco I like the idea of minimizing things that could potentially break. I just hate the idea of calling out a handyman because a closet door fell off its hinges or the ceiling fan got a balloon string wrapped up... Even things like closet doors and garbage disposals I want to take out of my rentals. Plus, just like @Jamie Rose said, as long as you can open a window it's very rare to get too hot for people.

I haven't yet closed on my first property, so maybe my opinion doesn't have a whole lot of gravity. That's just my take. Good luck with everything.
